MEET SERGE
Sergey Stetsov (“Serge”), the owner of Surge Media, is a freelance wedding videographer based in Lower Shotover, Queenstown.
Serge makes stunning videos that capture the emotion and excitement of a couple’s special day together, against the canvas of one of the world’s most sensational landscapes.
Originally from a town near Moscow in Russia, Serge's love of film began at the tender age of 16 after receiving a video camera, complete with clunky VHS tapes, as a gift from his father. To this day, it's the best present he's ever received. He took every opportunity to use his new setup, creating travel videos and practising his editing, music selections, and voice overs, until his hobby became the obvious career choice.
On leaving high school, Serge furthered his training by gaining a Diploma in Digital Film from the Southern Institute of Technology. Serge then started working for a local company as a video editor.
Wedding video happened partly by accident when he was asked by a close friend to film and edit a video of his wedding day. He quickly found himself inundated with bookings. After completing the project, Serge realised he had found his true niche, and thus Surge Media was born.
